A South Hill family is looking for their seven-month-old kitten which went missing on Friday. But this is no ordinary kitten, and that may present some issues.
The Stixrud family is looking for Tabia, a seven-month-old Savannah. This is a breed of cat that is the domesticated version of the African Serval, which is a wild cat that roams throughout Africa. Savannahs have only been domesticated since 1986, and was recognized as a breed by the International Cat Association in 2001.
According to Anita Stixrud, the cat has never been outside before she got loose. Her diet usually consists of raw chicken, instead of regular cat food. Tabia is also a very friendly cat, Anita says.
Stixrud says Tabia is a big part of her life and the life of her son, who has Asperger Syndrome. She also says that she is offering a reward for Tabia's return, as the cat is worth around $10,000.
