Following a memorial service at the Life Center Church in Tacoma Saturday morning, a candlelight vigil was held in Puyallup in honor of Charlie and Braden Powell.

"I guess that's an answer we'll never get - is why? Why the kids?" asked Ashelee Harvey, the vigil organizer.

Harvey didn't know the Powell boys, but she lived near the home where they were killed and she knew something needed to be done.

"The neighborhood needs some closure. This isn't normal for them. They're having a real tough time. The hope is to make this sad place a little bit better of a place," she said.

Huddled together in the chilling rain, they shared their prayers and hopes for the community to heal.

To help, a condolence book has been set up online.

So far, more than 3,000 people have offered their prayers and words of support for Charlie, Braden and their family.

Legacy messages are coming in from all over the country.

You can share your own online message for the family here.
